| I like my Chinese Class because it is fun. My teacher teaches me well and I learn a lot. She also teaches us crafts, like Chinese knotting, which I have always wanted to learn how to do. Learning about the Chinese Culture is very interesting because I want to know how my ancestors in China lived and what they did. (何美琳 Christine Ho) I think that my Chinese Class is wonderful. My favorite things as a Lee-Ming student are the Yo-Yo Class and the Weapons and Artillery and Warfare Class. Another thing is that the teachers do not give out much homework. At the end of each year the picnic at Peace Valley Park is a great idea to close the year of school. Those are a few of my favorite things as a Lee-Ming student.(葉采苓 Lynn Yip) What I like: 1. We have only two hours of Chinese School. 2.Some of my friends are in Chinese School. 3. Instead of having the regular quizzes, we play quiz games to learn new characters. After the quiz, we judge our classmates’ writing to evaluate the score of the quiz under the teacher’s supervision. My teacher calls the quiz:” The Hundred Percent Participation Strategy.”(劉仁庭 Catherine Liu) The best part about being a Lee-Ming student is being in the same class with friends, and learning Chinese together. I love being with friends. We help each other out and most of all, love to have fun! We can learn great amount when we can talk to friends as well. It is great to be with friends and work at the same time. It is extremely FUN!!! (張舒婷Vivien Chang) There are a lot of things I like about being a Lee-Ming Chinese student. First of all, in my class we learn Chinese idioms. I have benefited a lot from learning these sayings, like knowing how to use them and how it came to be. It is really fun and enjoyable all at the same time. When I am in class, my class reads Tang Dynasty poems like, “ Climbing Lo-Yang Plateau” and “ Climbing the Stork Tower.” For me, I learn a lot about how poems then were written and what the writers want to let readers know. Before my regular Chinese class, my Chinese school has culture classes. I like these classes because I get to learn about my culture and why it is special to be Chinese. These make me feel proud of who I am and how being different is a whole lot better than being ordinary. (謝佩如 Beatrice Hsieh) The Lee-Ming Chinese School is a place to be around the people of my own culture. Also, it is a place to learn Chinese. We are like one big family, having fun together and helping one another. As a student there, some of my favorite things are to learn about my culture and how to speak and write Chinese which are things that I never knew before, and it is very fun and interesting to learn about it. Another favorite thing is that I get to make new friends. The Lee-Ming Chinese School is a great place to be and even if someone is not Chinese, they are still welcome to learn and will still be part of the family. (黃敏兒 Stacey Wong) Lee-Ming Chinese School is very fun. There are many things to do here. Chinese is not very hard and I like to teach my friends at my English school. Homework is not very hard. When I teach my friends, some say they want to come to Chinese School. I get to see my friends at Chinese School and they help me when I get stuck. There are many things I like about Lee-Ming Chinese School. It is a fun place to learn Chinese. (朱仕娟Jennie Ju) Lee-Ming Chinese School is a wonderful place to learn Chinese. A few of my favorite things are the experienced teachers, learning drills and educational games. The teachers here are very intelligent as well as encouraging. They can find all ways to make you remember words. Also, if you do not understand at once, they will give you a second chance. Exciting learning drills help you remember and review words, phrases and various others things. Some drills are translation, matching, fill in the blank and riddles. The games are probably the most fun and interesting in this Chinese School experience. We get up, more around and take a break from tedious training and practice. For these things and many more, Lee-Ming Chinese School is obviously the greatest place to learn Chinese. (林祐伃 Jean Lin) As a Lee-Ming student, I look forward to coming to class every Sunday. I love the facility, and the staff and parents are very friendly. I enjoy learning new words and I have noticed an improvement in my vocabulary. Sometimes I wish class were longer so I could review and memorize the words I learn. I am very lucky to have 涂老師 because she is a great teacher. She tells fantastic stories about our culture and history. My favorite time of the school year is the Chinese New Year party. I love to eat different kinds of food. Lee-Ming is a wonderful Chinese school. (黃潤和 Simon Wong) Isn’t learning Chinese your once in a lifetime dream? I can tell you that it was mine! Just like many kids are learning Chinese in the world, I love to learn Chinese with my friends who have the same interests as me. Wouldn’t it be great if we can learn together, help each other, and talk at the same time? I love socializing with my friends in the Chinese Classes. The teacher is very nice in my class. She tells us awesome stories and lets us do many fun activities together. We do almost all of our homework in class with the teacher guiding us along. I really like the fact that our quizzes and tests are not as hard as expected. I hope you will join us and share our dream together at Lee- Ming! (林祐安Kevin Lin) At Lee-Ming it is pretty fun. We get to learn at lot of new words so we will be able to read signs when we go to Asia. We get a lot of practice with new Chinese words when we are doing our homework. I like the format of how the Chinese class is run. Another thing I like is about stamp system. I like to get many stamps and then we can exchange it for a prize at the end of each month. Some of the prizes are pretty cool. We can get stamps for many different reasons. This is a very fun Chinese school to go to and I like it. (傅妍茹Kathleen Fuh) As a student of Lee-Ming Chinese School, I have been given many opportunities to learn more about my heritage- not through boring textbooks or lectures, but through many interactive and fun activities. Some of these activities are the yearly Chinese New Year Celebration, and others such as Chinese Brush Painting, Chinese Kung-Fu, Chinese Yo-Yo, Go (a strategy game), etc. It is through these activities that I, along with many other fellow students, can further our knowledge about China (and Taiwan’s) unique customs, traditions, and culture. Although I greatly enjoy participating in these activities, my most favorite aspect of attending Lee-Ming /Chinese School is that I am given the chance to actually learn the ancient language of Mandarin Chinese (and hopefully become as fluent in it as I am in English). I love being able to learn “Chinese synonyms for English words”, and vocabulary, phrases, and quotes that are unique to the Chinese culture. If I were not a Lee-Ming Chinese school student, then I would have never been given these wonderful opportunities. (王俐安 Lillian Wang) After I transferred to Ms. Chang’s class, I have finally found a setting that suits my needs. I really enjoy studying at Lee-Ming and can’t tell how happy I am. The things that I like about Ms. Chang’s class are: (1) Quiz and exams are will written and given in acceptable frequency. (2) Every week, we always learn new vocabularies and how to use it and also taking turns doing presentation. 太好啦! (3) Love the fact that we are given new phrase every week, too! I notice that one of my biggest challenges in learning Chinese is to know as many phrases as possible because it seems that it’s commonly used in Chinese unlike Indonesian or English. (4) I also appreciate that once in a while she will make us read a newspaper or magazine article. This is great! It encourages me to try reading magazine, newspaper or online articles in Chinese! :) (5) I really feel that this class has helped improved my Chinese tremendously and I will definitely continue to study here. 我一定會努力學業!加油!:)加油!:)我真的很感謝您們!謝謝!謝謝!(陳長美Tanti Lina) I enjoy studying at Lee-Ming Chinese School tremendously when I first started coming the school. Back when I was young (imagine saying that when you are 15 years old. It’s a bit frightening), I didn’t see it as a “school”. I thought of it as more a socialization opportunity wrapped in the humdrum trappings of standard schoolwork than an actual opportunity for learning, something that annoyed my teacher to no end! Now though, I realize that this has taught me quite a few things in Chinese so that, while I can not speak it fluently, I can at least function with the knowledge of it that I hope if I ever visit China or Taiwan. Eventually I hope that I will be proficient in the Mandarin, so I look forward to next year! (賴奐廷Albert Lai) |
